Born in Innsbruck, Austria, Helli Mayr spent 7 years in

He wrote a book on carving nativity sculptures and does inspiring commission work. Helli is best known for his life-size religious sculptures in Austria and Germany. More recently his carving style has changed somewhat…he likes to do things that affect our times, plus humor in the old technique. What we will be doing in Class:
People who have not had a class with Cheryl before will be doing a day series of patterns intended to teach as many techniques as possible while giving the student a quality art piece.
Day 1/ A barn scene with trees, bushes, grass, a pump, and textured barn, with shading techniques.
This utilizes the Round Heeled Skew, the Bent Spear Point Shader, and the Ball Point Pen.
Day 2/ A Saw Whet Owl standing on a post. Utilizing the Round Heeled Skew, and the Bent Spear Point Shader. This teaches undercutting and texturing and shading under feathers and putting in crown and breast feathers. The texturing and shading on the post enhances and teaches deeper shading. The eye techniques makes for a more realistic bird.
Day 3/ A full cheeked chipmunk standing on a post with barbed wire and flowers is done and then colored using provided Oil Pencil and Liquin techniques. This teaches fur, with shading and layering techniques. It teaches lighter burning techniques on the flowers. It teaches much more and if everyone follows instructions well, we have some very satisfying pieces to show for our efforts.
People who are more experienced and wish to do other, more difficult pieces ( we have well over 100 patterns available and can also work with your patterns ) are asked to bring examples of their work for evaluation.
